Wedding Planning - Wedding Day Transportation
From your wedding gown to your reception bash, your wedding day evokes a special kind of style. The way you travel on your big day can incorporate that same kind of style as well. Whether you travel in a limousine, vintage car, luxury coach or a horse-drawn carriage, it will be a one-of-a-kind ride for your once-in-a-lifetime event.
First, ask yourself the following questions before you make any kind of arrangements for your wedding day transportation:
- What kind of vehicle would best fit my style and the style of our wedding?
- How many passengers will need to be accommodated?
- Do I want this transportation available throughout the entire course of the day or just during certain times? (i.e. from ceremony to reception only)
After you've considered the questions above, you can then decide which vehicle will best fit your needs.
Limousines are the most commonly used vehicles used to transport the wedding party on the wedding day. You have several options in this department: sedan limousines, which could accommodate you and your new groom, or stretch/ultra-stretch limousines, which can seat 8-12. There is also the new stretch SUV, which holds up to 16 passengers, and for those who need a vehicle to accommodate a very large entourage of 20 or more, luxury coaches could be an option. Many times these limousines and coaches offer optional amenities as well-- from red carpet roll-outs to champagne/cold beverage service. Check for package deals and inquire about what will be included. The convenience will come when you will be able to gather everyone in the same vehicle and will not have to worry about rounding up other transportation to transport everybody to the ceremony and/or reception.
If would like to go another route for your wedding day transportation, you'll be pleased to know that your options are vast. Visit a bridal show, ask around and skim through your phone book for other services in your area. From luxury, antique cars to horse-drawn carriages, you'd be amazed at the possibilities.
After deciding which will fit your needs the best, begin calling around to get rates and availability. It's a good idea to book this service at least 4-6 months in advance. Keep in mind there will most likely be an hourly minimum and you may have to put down an initial deposit. The price you are given probably does not include the 15-20% gratuity, which is usually tacked onto your final bill. Be sure to inquire about this as well. And before making your final decision, make sure that you are dealing with a reputable company that is licensed and insured.
Once you've chosen a company, be sure to get a copy of the contract, which states all the agreed-upon services. It should include all wedding day details including vehicle type, pick-up times, hours/day of service, amenities, etc.
Soon enough you'll be riding in luxury-- exactly what you deserve on your wedding day.
