Wedding Planning - Attendants' Duties

Weddings are an exciting occasion, especially if you have been asked to be a member of the Bridal party. Accepting this duty might leave you wondering exactly what your responsibilities will be. Maid/Matron of Honor

• Offers to help the Bride with any pre-wedding day duties.
• May host Bridal shower and attends other pre-wedding parties.
• Pays for fittings, gown, accessories, and any travel expenses.
• Selects gift to be given to Bride from her and the other bridesmaids.
• Helps Bride get dressed on wedding day.
• Holds Bride's bouquet and Groom's ring during ceremony.
• Straighten Bride's train and veil.
• Signs marriage license as an official witness.
• Stands in receiving line.
• May offer a toast to the Bride and Groom at reception.
• Mingles with guests at reception.
• Helps Bride into her going-away outfit.

Best Man

• Offers to help the Groom with any pre-wedding day duties.
• Goes for formal wear fitting and pays for rental.
• Makes arrangements for bachelor dinner.
• Selects the gift for the Groom.
• May help Groom with honeymoon plans and also help pack for honeymoon.
• Helps Groom get ready on wedding day.
• Gets Groom to church on time.
• Takes care of Bride's ring just before and during ceremony.
• Escorts Maid/Matron of Honor down the aisle.
• Signs marriage license as an official witness.
• Stands in receiving line and mingles with guests at reception.
• Makes a toast to Bride and Groom at the reception.
• May read any special messages or telegrams that couple receives.
• Assists Groom into going-away outfit.
• Has transportation (with luggage) ready for Bride and Groom's departure from reception.

Bridesmaid

• Offers Bride support.
• Pays for fittings, gown, accessories, and any travel expenses.
• May throw Bridal shower or help other bridesmaids in throwing a shower.
• May stand in receiving line.
• Mingles with guests at reception.

Ushers

• Offers Groom support.
• Goes for formal wear fitting and pays for rental.
• Helps in planning the bachelor party.
• Arrives early to the ceremony and escorts guests to their seats.
• Escorts bridesmaids down the aisle.
• Mingle with guests and dance with bridesmaids at reception.
